WDG, which started as a small group of volunteers more than 2 decades, is now a viable and credible WLO that works with local government, international NGOs, UN agencies for empowering women, development of poor rural communities and to support the affected population in emergency situations

Food Security implemented in partnership with Oxfam

-Vegetable garden for group base on gender balance
– Unconditional grant to women groups for income generation
– Ox-plough to farmers group based on gender balance
– Training on agronomy practice
– Honey production with provision to bee hives and training

Food security implemented in partnership with consortium donors Mani Tese and People in Piral Association PIPA from 2012 – 2015

Interlinking Peace Building, Decentralization & Development fund by Cordaid,

The overall objective of the programme is to increase human security in greater Wau, through interlinking and strengthening community-based peace building initiatives, decentralized government services and socio-economic peace dividend. The interventions are mainly focus on capacity building of the community and local government to insure community’s human security and peace dividend. The community managed disaster risk reduction approach is utilized as a main implementation strategy components:

Security and Justices (2012-2015)
– Leadership in Women’s peace and security – UNSCR 1325 from 2013-2015
– Justice and Security project, package of training been conducted under the above-mentioned projects, for community and local government and barometer program which is about, creating of local tools to measure the change of women security on daily based.
– Community managed disaster risk reduction which is about resilience building and livelihood security
– improved capacity of community- based peace building actors
– Improved capacity of local government actors and community-based peace building actors to achieve coherence

Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction project from 2012 – 2015
– The main implementation strategy for the implementation of reconstruction programme
– -Peace dividend established and improved socio-economic conditions
– Community capacity built and community been aware and participated in participation in Disaster Risk Reduction and prioritized their hazard on disaster risk reduction and development of community disaster risk reduction strategies
– Increase access for multiple use of water by constructing boreholes and hand dug wells
– Formation of Community Development (Disaster Risk Reduction) committee
– support for small holder farmers on agricultural production and livestock production through provision of Agricultural inputs
– Livelihood options diversified and strengthened (Bee keeping, off farm activities)
– Training on gender and Leadership
– Community capacity building on Advocacy, Lobby and resources mobilization
– Conflict transformation and enhance social cohesion

Women leadership in peace and security (2012-2015)
– improved socio-economic position of women
– Establish and strengthen women’s networks on peace, security and development
– GBV prevention and response awareness from 2011 – 2015, it will be on going activities
– UNSCR 1325 awareness among the communities on going activities
– Paralegal from 2013 – 2015
– Advocacy and Lobbying is ongoing activities, it integrates with activities relate to peace, justice, Democracy, women’s human rights and peace process
– Gender equality, Hygiene and reproductive health are cross cutting issues,
– Gender Base Violence (GBV) awareness response among the adolescents in basic schools targeting both girls and boys.

Psychosocial support
In partnership with UNHCR, WDG implemented psychosocial support project in PoC at UNMISS compound &IDPs collective sites in Wau and also managed Protection Information Desk in collective site during the conflict in 2016 – 2020 supported by UNHCR as well
More than 10,000 HH direct beneficiaries of food security implemented by WDG, the organization as a growing Women Led organization, searched for further capacity building interventions in the areas of strategic planning, participatory monitoring and evaluation, and human resources management are essential to enhancing WDG’s delivery capacity. Efforts to date have shown promise and WDG will continue to grow and serve the poor of the area.

Food Security in partnership with Cordaid from 2014 – 2015
WDG is implementing the project in Bazia payam targeted 400 H.H, the activities are: group vegetable garden, crop farming, provision of seeds & tools and technical support

FEED project from 2015 – 2018
WDG implemented Feed project in partnership with Oxfam, the main activities were: support of farmers with seeds, tools and training on modern farming, beekeeping and gender equality program
SSJR in Wau and Jur River counties also implemented Livelihood and SSJR in Wau and Jur River counties food voucher under SSJR in partnership with Cordaid in Wau and Jur River in 2018 and from
2020 – 2023 with support from ZOA DORCAS in Wau and Jur River counties and Warrap State funds by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands

Prevention of Early Marriage & SGBV Against Girls and Women
Oct/2018 – Feb/2019.
WDG implementedprevention of early marriage/pregnancy and SGBV against girls and women in WBGS targeted 300 girls at Wau A Girls and Al Salam Girls schools and their parents which is a total of 900 direct beneficiaries.
The project focused on raising awareness on the consequences of early marriage and pregnancies among the girl child and advocacy to address the problem.
